On Napuqin, a planet whose energy resources are about to run dry, there are two major organizations.
One is the White Tower, which controls most of the energy and technology.
The other is Black Mud, a resistance group established to fight the White Tower and seize energy resources.
Alete is a key member of Black Mud, a "golden lion" who makes waves but is soft-hearted in both words and deeds.
After a mission, he encountered a stranger in the pitch-black Lower City and held out his hand.
The child was filthy and had just been beaten badly, but still trusted Alete and placed his hand in Alete's palm.
From then on, a silent boy followed Alete, the golden lion of Black Mud's Lower City.
"But Alete, the unknown is dangerous too."
Alete raised an eyebrow and smiled. I'm Alete, the golden lion. If I take in a cat, I'll take responsibility for it.
Before-you-read tips:
1. A short story, under 40,000 characters.
2. This was an emotional outlet I wrote in the heat of the moment a few years ago. Please be understanding if you spot any plot holes.
3. If you like it, please let me know. I'll consider fleshing out the world and writing a Napuqin series.
Theme: Rescue.
