On her wedding night, Jin Yixue was abandoned by her husband and left alone in an empty bridal chamber. As she drank away her disappointment, strange lines of text appeared before her eyes.
The text said her husband was a devoted second male lead who had risen to power in a rebirth novel. He refused to touch her because he was waiting to meet the heroine.
The heroine was her younger sister, who had been lost and separated from the family for many years. The Jin household would find her three days after Jin Yixue's wedding.
In her previous life, the heroine had met the second male lead through a twist of fate. They had grown to love each other, but her existence kept them from taking things further. In the end, she married the scum of a male lead and was tormented in body and mind until she died.
After the heroine's death, the second male lead went mad and bathed the capital in blood for her, then took his own life to join her.
So, after living again, the heroine decided to follow her heart and be with the second male lead openly.
And Jin Yixue was the vicious supporting female character who devoted herself to framing the heroine and bringing the second male lead and heroine together.
At the end, her husband would break both her legs. She would beg on the streets and eventually die in agony, huddled in a corner.

After reading all this, Jin Yixue was horrified.
She didn't really know the man who was her husband in name.
She had married him partly because of his immortal-like looks and the fact that she wouldn't have to serve her mother-in-law, and partly for his immense fortune.
Since the second male lead could never love her, Jin Yixue immediately decided to settle for the next best thing: kill him and take his fortune.
After all, money was hard to earn when you were poor, but finding a man was easy once you were rich.
She hired a whole slew of expert assassins and tried every method she could think of. At last, she successfully killed her husband and transformed into the richest widow in the capital.
And yet, almost every night, she dreamed that her dead husband pinned her to the bed while she whimpered. When she woke, her body was covered in red marks.

Fu Hansheng was skilled in divination and foresight. Even before their wedding, he knew he had little time left to live.
He married only because of an imperial decree. The capital was full of eligible young women, and he hadn't given his wife much thought.
Only after they married did he discover that his wife hadn't given him much thought either.
She had married him for his money. To his face, she kept her distance, but behind his back, she was determined to make sure he died soon.
Fu Hansheng saw it all and quietly drew close to her, indulging her. He began to feel that being alive wasn't so bad if he could be with someone like her.

Little scene:
After the assassins hired by Jin Yixue failed to kill Fu Hansheng for the twentieth time, his friend began earnestly urging him to divorce her.
Fu Hansheng was silent for a long while, then said, "Actually, I think my wife still cares about me."
His friend choked. "...What makes you say that?"
Fu Hansheng calmly replied, "Whenever someone dies in the capital, she goes around asking if it was me."

Clear-headed, self-interested heroine x sickly, mad immortal
Jin Yixue x Fu Hansheng
There is a male supporting character who has transmigrated, so the novel is tagged with time travel.
Both are each other's first and only love. Happy ending.
