This is a prequel or parallel world to The Shackles of the Heart, focusing on the relationship between Yukimura and the Uchiha. You don't need to have read the previous work. Both are purely personal works of self-expression.
Uchiha Yukimura was fifteen, in the prime of his rebellious, angst-ridden youth. So, on a beautiful, clear morning, he decided to run away from home.
He had three reasons for running away:
First, he hated his older brother.
Second, he hated the Uchiha Clan.
Third, he hated the twisted, abnormal brotherly bonds of the Uchiha!
So he decided to sever the ties of blood!
But easier said than done. After exhausting himself working at it, all he managed to do was erase his surname. He still had Uchiha blood in his veins, and his soul was still bound to the Uchiha.
---Until one day, Uchiha Itachi accidentally wiped out the entire clan!
What a happy ending: Yukimura finally escaped his dysfunctional family!
That year, at the ripe old age of eighteen, he became a brand-new "orphan." Stunned, he looked at another orphan, Sasuke, and decided to adopt him.
Was it so they could keep each other warm? No. Yukimura silently tightened his grip on Sasuke's hand. It was out of guilt.
Not just guilt, but also a heart that longed to restore their blood ties.
Reader's guide:
1. Sasuke gets a familial relationship, and Kakashi gets a friendship.
2. There are many original characters, and the canon worldbuilding has been heavily altered. This story will reveal some of the world's truths.
3. The protagonist has no golden finger, no Mangekyo, just a heart eager to cause trouble that always ends up being troubled by events instead. It's a very frustrating read!
4. The name Yukimura comes from Sanada Yukimura, a famous Japanese general from the Warring States period. The author had simply watched too little anime and happened to use the same name as a popular character. I don't want to change it, because I've grown attached to the name after writing it.
