Xie Yaoyi was the most pampered little princess of Chu. Her favorite pastimes were catching fish, teasing birds, and picking on Shang Que.
It was a time of chaos.
Shang Que was the captain of her personal guard, her sharpest blade and her strongest shield.
But he was always silent and stiff as a board.
No matter what she threw at him, he never dodged.
She gave him the harshest, most unreasonable orders, but he always had just one response: "As you command."
Everyone at court knew that the little princess was hardest on Lord Shang.
Later, he disappeared.
She swore that if she ever saw him again, she would whip him until he begged for mercy, then lock him in a cage and leave him hungry for three days and three nights so he would never dare leave again.
But she searched all of Chu and couldn't find a trace of him.
Later still, the situation grew increasingly turbulent, and Chu was defeated by its neighbor. To seal an alliance, Xie Yaoyi was forced to travel far away to the Sui Kingdom and marry its new emperor.
On their wedding night,
through the layers of red curtains,
a tall, slender figure slowly approached.
She had already hidden poison in her mouth and was on high alert,
but the man slowly knelt before her, raised his head, and said hoarsely, "Your Highness, I've come to accept my punishment."
Later, people in the Sui Kingdom marveled that the princess of Chu must be some kind of enchantress. Otherwise, why had the emperor been unable to get out of bed for three days and three nights after the wedding? Even when he went to court on the fourth day, his movements were noticeably slow.
[Bonus Scene]
A golden cage of modest size stood in the dignified emperor's bedchamber.
The palace attendants assumed the emperor was afraid the princess of Chu would escape in the night, and had put her in a golden cage to keep her close.
But they didn't know
that the mighty and wise Emperor of Sui curled up inside it every night.
And the only key hung around Xie Yaoyi's neck.
This might be a girl tops boy story! I haven't decided yet.
