[A lecherous vampire who only throws her weight around at home x a smiling, two-faced tyrant vampire hunter]
*
The day I found my husband, the snow was falling heavily. He was badly wounded and unconscious in the snow, his shirt slashed to ribbons by a blade. His lean chest was as pale as the snow, and tears of sympathy streamed from the corners of my mouth.
He was an extraordinarily handsome young man. When he woke, he smiled at me, and his dazzling white teeth nearly hurt my eyes like gentle sunlight.
"I am Lu Guihong. Are you the young lady who saved me?"
*
As a weak little vampire, all I dreamed of was finding a blood servant (crossed out) husband who loved and pampered me, and supplied me with fresh, sweet blood for the rest of my life.
Lu Guihong eventually decided to repay me by marrying me, fulfilling the first half of my dream perfectly. We had three meals a day together. He did the laundry and cooked; he farmed and wove. All I had to do was take care of my lower back and my voice.
Just as I was sharpening my knives, eager to begin the second half of my dream, everything went awry. The world outside suddenly fell into chaos, and a powerful vampire hunter appeared from nowhere. Countless souls fell beneath his deadly Tang sword, and several of my old vampire acquaintances were hacked to pieces. When I heard the news, I was scared half to death.
By day, I could boss my husband around at home as the apple of his eye. But at night, out in the world, I had to hide my identity and run for my life from this masked vampire hunter, ending up disheveled and covered in grime.
Even my husband had, for once, lost his smile. When I asked him why, he was making lunch, his kitchen knife deftly slicing tender pig's blood into fine strips.
He replied nonchalantly, "There was a bit of a snag with my new job as a county constable. One criminal is proving hard to catch."
*
Until one day, the butcher whose pig's blood I often stole reported me to the Blood Hunters' Guild. A group of vampire hunters surrounded me, armed with silver swords and knives.
I fled in panic, even losing the veil covering my face, but still crashed into the arms of a tall hunter in black. From the corner of my eye, I saw the silver-plated Tang sword in his hand, dripping with blood.
I'm-doomed.
But in the next moment, he pinned my shoulder with one hand and pulled me firmly behind him.
He smelled of the familiar scent of face powder, the same scent I had picked up in the arms of my wonderful husband before going out to hunt that night.
As everyone cried out in disbelief, "Your Majesty, why are you rebelling?" the young man let out a low, muffled laugh. With his other hand, he spun his Tang sword in a smooth flourish.
He turned, brought the blade down, and cut down the first vampire hunter who rushed to seize me.
[Reader's Guide]
* The main story is told in third person.
* A great many original settings, in a very loosely constructed ancient vampire world.
* Not a strong female lead, not a female-centric power fantasy. A sweet, slice-of-life romance.
* One-on-one romance, happy ending.
* This isn't the final blurb. It may be revised before the novel officially begins, but the premise will stay the same.
