Liang Shaorong was the sort of actor every director dreamed of working with.
He was exceptionally talented, with a singular presence. His tender performances on screen captivated countless fans, and a single poster of his became a sensation at the turn of the century.
Entertainment tabloids gave him a column of his own, filling it with gossip and anecdotes. They wrote about fans waiting three hours in the freezing wind to buy his DVDs, and joked that a man like Liang Shaorong could be destitute one day and still have fans willing to give up everything they owned to help him.
The joke came true. Years later, when Liang Shaorong publicly broke with his contracting agency and fell into a debt crisis, fans still went to great lengths to help him. Posters piled up layer upon layer in shop windows.
A film company was also eager to sign Liang Shaorong, a golden goose, but just as the deal was about to close, someone swooped in and snatched him away.
Someone took a photo of Liang Shaorong being secretly ushered into the car of the reclusive new head of the He family on the night of a press conference.
In the photo, a pale, bony hand holding a cigarette reached out from the Bentley and stroked Liang Shaorong's one-of-a-kind face.
The newspaper headline was sensational and charged with innuendo: "The Actor's Fall from Grace: A Tycoon's Late-Night Invitation."
The public was in an uproar.

Liang Shaorong didn't think his life was nearly as dramatic or legendary as the entertainment tabloids made it out to be.
It was true that he'd had a rough childhood, lived on the streets, sold newspapers, and shined shoes. But he was luckier than most homeless boys, at least because he had a younger brother to rely on.
His younger brother was quiet, with black hair and fine brows. When he fought, he was vicious as a little wolf.
After they'd depended on each other for so long, perhaps because of teenage hormones, their brotherly affection took a different turn. There were sparks whenever they were together, and they nearly crossed a line they shouldn't have.
Fortunately, Liang Shaorong stopped things in time.
They parted on good terms.
Or so Liang Shaorong thought.
He didn't see He Liangxiao again until many years later. The young street kid had become a suave tycoon. Leaning against his car, he rolled a lighter between his fingers with a series of clicks. When he looked up through the smoke, he gave Liang Shaorong a faint nod and smiled.
"Big Brother, long time no see."
Only then did Liang Shaorong realize with a headache that things probably weren't as simple as he'd thought.
As the older brother, shouldn't I take some responsibility? Forget it, don't look at him. You're the only one I've had all these years x Even if I die, I won't let you go, Big Brother. I'll haunt you even as a ghost.
Top x 1v1. Both leads have pretty extraordinary lives. Happy ending. A steady, emotionally composed older-brother gong and a somewhat gloomy, clingy ghostly shou.
Theme: To be determined.
