The completed novel in my column, "Every Cat at School Is My Informant", is available to read.
My next book will be "The Mountain God Cub’s Everyday Struggle to Support the Family". Please add it to your favorites. The blurb is at the very bottom.
After refusing to play along with unspoken rules, she was blacklisted across the internet and driven out of show business. Overnight, she fell from the top back to her hometown.
Making money was hard and life was miserable. Jiang Sui’an finally couldn’t take her brainless new boss anymore, so she quit show business and went home to be a good granddaughter to her grandparents.
Inherit Grandpa’s little diner? Sure, why not?
There was a vegetable patch at home, wild mushrooms and greens on the mountain behind the house, and fish and shrimp in the stream. All natural and pollution-free. What could be better?
On the first day she took over, a truck driver ate his fill and packed some food to go. One pot of braised snacks made everyone at the service area drool.
Food lovers soon followed the smell. After eating, they slapped the table and asked, “Boss, will you have more tomorrow?”
Later, the diner grew into a large restaurant, then a rural guesthouse. Local specialties sold out, and the persimmon orchard became a popular photo spot.
Her little pig, Fugu, took over as the new top-tier star. A hugely popular influencer exclaimed, “These days, even pigs are better at promoting themselves than I am.”
Her husky, Aha, was in charge of wrecking the house, and happened to wreck his way into hundreds of thousands of followers.
Life kept getting better.
The road was repaired, a school was built, and the villagers no longer had to fret over every two yuan.
Sitting outside the diner, Jiang Sui’an watched the endless stream of tourists and a certain someone busily working inside in an apron printed with her fans’ logo. She thought, I made the right choice quitting show business.
A Few Things to Know
Heroine: master-level cooking skills, forced to promote the business, adored by everyone. Hero: cool and loyal, capable at everything, obsessed with his wife.
Food, running a business, and silly everyday life. Sweet, satisfying, and angst-free, with a relaxed pace.
*A spiritual spring setting is introduced midway through the story, but it doesn’t take up much space.
Blurb revised four times, screenshots dated [May 21, 2026].
Blurb for "The Mountain God Cub’s Everyday Struggle to Support the Family":
Niannian is the last mountain god in the world and the little head of the household on Pangpang Mountain. She feels it is her duty to look after her believers.
Her hedgehog believer wants a comfortable home, her little tiger believer wants a huge territory, and her red panda believer wants to taste milk served in a basin…
But Niannian’s pockets are empty, and she can’t grant a single wish.
One day, Niannian accidentally rescues a little cub. Not only does she gain divine power, she also finds a way to fulfill her little believers’ wishes.
Niannian follows the cub out of the mountains and into the colorful world beyond. From a little box that glows, she learns all kinds of things.
Niannian’s housekeeping service, Niannian’s consulting service, Niannian’s barbecue stand…
She learns a job and then does it, loves every job she takes on, and works hard to fulfill her little believers’ wishes. There’s just one little tail she can’t seem to shake.
Strange. Niannian is a little mountain god, born of the land and raised by nature. How could she have parents?
Niannian’s mom: “Baby, I carried you for ten months and gave birth to you!!!”
Reader’s Guide
*All place names in this story are made up. Any resemblance is purely coincidental.
*The pace is slow, with lots of everyday life. The cub takes on all kinds of jobs.
*The jobs are included because the story calls for them, not to challenge labor laws.
