When Shang Yu was a freshman, she went into the mountains with her classmates. She accidentally kicked over a pile of small stones, and that night, after returning to the Miao village, she dreamed of a dazzlingly beautiful, cold woman.

The woman approached in a flowing green dress, reached up and clutched her throat, then climbed over her body as if boneless and pinned her to the bed. Two barely visible fangs were poised to pierce the blood vessels in her neck.

"You woke me up. You'll pay for it."

Then Shang Yu saw a green snake tail shimmering with an eerie light coil around her thigh and yank her down. A cold voice came from above her head:

"Lick."

Shang Yu resisted with all her might, so the woman grabbed her throat and bit her shoulder hard as punishment.

Shang Yu soon passed out. When she woke the next day, she thought it had been a dream. But then she saw the winding marks of something crawling across the blanket, the bloody marks around her ankle where something had coiled around it, and two tiny bite marks on her collarbone. A wave of terror rose within her.

A Qing was the high priestess of the snake clan. After their habitat was destroyed, she led her people into the depths of the mountains. But while she was hibernating, a woman woke her up.

Furious, she found the woman that very night and demanded that she please her, only to be rejected.

A Qing grew even angrier. She bit into the woman's delicate skin, injected a tiny amount of venom, and wrapped herself tightly around her, intending to kill her. But to her surprise, the woman was damnably warm.

She fell asleep and only fled in a panic at dawn.

But after returning, she could no longer hibernate. All she could think about was the woman's softness and warmth.

Shang Yu heard many legends about the snake clan in the village. The villagers revered them as gods.

But the high priestess among those gods was moody and unpredictable, and loved tormenting people. If she set her sights on you, you were as good as dead.

After investigating for days, Shang Yu finally found a partial description of the high priestess's appearance in historical records. She looked just like the woman from that night's dream.

Shang Yu immediately packed her things and flew back to school.

Night fell. A knock unexpectedly came at the door of her rented apartment, followed by a familiar voice through the door: "You thought I wouldn't find you?"

In the dim, humid room, a beautiful green snake tail picked up an *egg from the bedside and slowly pushed it inside.

Shang Yu tilted her head back in discomfort, her body drenched in sweat. Her flushed fingertips gripped the pillow beneath her as she gritted her teeth and demanded, "What exactly are you trying to do?"

"Green bamboo vipers' eggs have to hatch inside the body. That's how they produce little snakes."

After explaining, A Qing deftly tied the tip of her tail into a knot, coiling it around the *egg to incubate it inside Shang Yu. She chuckled, "I told you, you'd pay for waking me up."
