A Second-Generation Sixies Lie-Flat Daily Life

Qiqige was born lucky. She was born in the hard times of the 1960s, but never had to suffer. Her parents doted on her, her older brother adored her, and she had the best food, clothes, and comforts on the Atai grasslands.

When she was three, she discovered that the little shop her mother ran never seemed to run out of stock. It even had all sorts of strange snacks: instant noodle snacks, lollipops, spicy strips...

Her father had a little secret, too. When he took her hunting in the mountains, wild rabbits, foxes, and marmots all rushed straight into his arms.

Her older brother was strange whenever he came home on leave, too. He'd laugh, then suddenly start crying.

Could Batai really not feel sad?

Ever since he was old enough to understand, he'd known the saying, "The children of poor families grow up early."

After struggling through his studies, he finally got into a police academy. When he graduated, he was assigned to the local police station on the pasture, becoming an honored community police officer.

Then, while on a call, he passed by his family's yurt and heard a baby crying. He went inside and saw:

His mother holding a hungry, crying baby girl and pacing by the stove, while his father hurried to bring the milk to a boil, clumsily adding fuel to the fire...

Batai: ???

His father, whose legs had been broken for ten years, was standing up!

His mother, who'd been bedridden for years, had given birth to a little sister for him!

The only little shop in the commune was actually run by his family!

None of that was the strangest part. What was terrifying was that one day an uncle turned out to be the station chief, and the next day an aunt's husband turned out to be a senior officer...

His parents had told him since childhood that they were orphans!!!

Don't ask. Their son was raised poor, while their daughter was raised rich.

At first, Batai felt like the sky had fallen. Then he saw how adorable his little sister was.

Well, he didn't mind anymore.

His parents might not be his real parents, but his little sister was definitely his real sister.
