[White Bone Spirit x Six-Eared Macaque] [Chen Shuixuan x Liu Er] [Fake Guanyin vs. Fake Great Sage]
[Slightly wicked heartthrob loved by all x born bad, hated by everyone]
Blurb proper (just a rough idea; I may not necessarily write it this way)
Chen Shuixuan was a White Bone Spirit who had cultivated for a thousand years. She had two great passions: beauty, and dressing herself up; and transforming into Guanyin's likeness to swagger around. She was also wildly popular among the people of Baoxiang Kingdom. Her motto in life was to do good deeds and collect incense offerings.
Then one day, the great and compassionate Guanyin Bodhisattva came to find her. Chen Shuixuan assumed Cihang had come to settle a score, but instead, she had arranged a chance for her. The position of Eastern Crane God was vacant. If Chen Shuixuan could guide the Six-Eared Macaque to willingly join the Buddhist faith, she could ascend to godhood at once.
As it turned out, although Tang Sanzang and his companions had long since attained enlightenment, and Sun Wukong had been named Victorious Fighting Buddha, he was of two minds in one body. The Six-Eared Macaque, his inner demon, had not died. And because he was born of Heaven and Earth, he was immortal and indestructible, a potential menace in the future.
Chen Shuixuan hesitated for a long while, but eventually agreed. Cihang gave her a golden headband and taught her the tightening spell, hoping she would complete her task soon.
The Six-Eared Macaque went by the nickname Liu Er. In every way, he was far worse than the early Handsome Monkey King.
Born a demon, he was full of wicked energy, always itching to meddle and stir up trouble. Even cats and dogs couldn't stand him.
He hated most of all those self-important monks from the West. The Buddha was his sworn enemy, and he had little respect for Guanyin either.
The first time he saw Chen Shuixuan, he threatened her without the slightest courtesy. "Little White Bone, you should be glad I don't like chewing bones."
What did the Buddha mean by this? Sending him a little demon he could kill with one swing of his staff?
Who did they think they were looking down on?
But when she praised him as devastatingly handsome, peerless beneath the heavens, he rather enjoyed it. She even made him a beautiful pearl crown herself.
So he decided to let things slide for now. He turned the jade crown over and over in his hands, quite pleased with it.
Who would have thought that the perfectly ordinary crown would turn into a headband as soon as he put it on? The spell she chanted made him writhe on the ground, nearly passing out.
Seeing her scheme had worked, the little White Bone dropped her act. She even dared to look down at him from above, smiling faintly. "You probably don't know that the White Bone Spirit who was beaten to death on White Tiger Ridge was my master, do you?"
"Since we're supposedly two minds in one body, and I can't do anything to that one, you'll have to take his place." She curled her lips at him smugly.
And so, they traveled through kingdom after kingdom, entangled with each other for a long time.
But in the end, Chen Shuixuan no longer wanted to hurt him, much less force him into anything.
What was right, and what was wrong? She could no longer tell.
When Heaven's punishment came, Chen Shuixuan chose to bear it willingly.
Lying in his arms, covered in blood, she tenderly touched his cheek, her eyes filled with heartache and fury, grieving for both herself and him. "Liu Er, don't beg them!"
"Don't beg them!"
Tears streaming down her face, she clutched his arm tightly. At last, in her final moments, she gave him the promise he had always wanted. "Heaven and Earth can bear witness: I love only you, my one and only monkey."
The pain of losing the one he loved was surely fatal. That day, Liu Er held her body and wept as though his heart were being torn apart.
He completely lost his reason, raised his Golden Cudgel, and fought his way to the Great Thunderclap Temple.
Heaven and Earth mourned. Every flower and tree on Vulture Peak was stained red with blood.
Liu Er confronted the Buddha with murder in his eyes. Everyone watched in terror, sure another great battle was about to begin.
Then, suddenly, he knelt.
He knelt.
The man who had always been so proud finally bent his back. Carefully holding her withered bones in his arms, his eyes wet and his heart utterly shattered, he closed his eyes and said with a tremble, "I concede. I am willing to join the Buddhist faith. I only beg the Buddha to save her."
Liu Er, early on: You should be glad I don't like chewing bones.
Liu Er, midway: You're the prettiest little bone I've ever seen.
Liu Er, later: Say it. You love only me, your one and only monkey.
A Journey to the West spin-off. Major OOC warning, Mary Sue warning, and countless personal additions.
The male lead is in human form most of the time, because the author can't accept him kissing the heroine with a face full of monkey fur. But he does turn into a monkey sometimes.

Writing this just for myself, for fun, and letting my imagination run wild.
