Connected stories, still 1v1, seme POV, sweet romance.
As ocean pollution grows ever more severe, some deep-sea species are struggling to survive. So they decide to join the glorious process of evolution: come ashore. If you can't beat them, join them, and become human to survive.
1. The first story
Bai Hui is an ordinary student with a hidden illness. He has to drink at least five liters of water every day to stay alive. One day, a transfer student arrives, and Bai Hui feels an indescribable connection with him. Then his body begins to mutate, until it regresses into something inhuman. Only then does the truth begin to reveal itself to him.
2. The second story
Bai Hui's "biological father," Bai Chi, disappeared twenty years ago, and his adoptive father, Lin Haiyan, has been searching for him for twenty years.
For reasons unknown, Lin Haiyan raised the child of his ex-boyfriend. Just as he thought he would never see Bai Chi again in this lifetime, Bai Chi returned, just as he had been when they first met.
3. The third story
The merfolk, present in every story, also yearn for life on land. Papasia is a deep-sea merman. The first time he surfaced, he saw a "fellow merfolk" with a beautiful tail. Without a second thought, he started talking to him. Only later did he learn that the young man was completing a filming assignment, and that humans had a profession called cosplayer.
4. The fourth story
Wu Yu has his own wisdom about life. Rather than struggle in a big city, after graduating he went straight back to his hometown, got a government job, and settled into a life of working nine to five, enjoying weekends off, and never working overtime. He even took up fishing as a hobby. Every weekend, he'd bring along his gear and come home empty-handed. His fishing buddies dubbed him the year's top chum-sprinkling immortal. After fishing so recklessly for so long, he finally hooked a salted fish spirit.
Premise: Protecting the environment is everyone's responsibility
