Two-person version: A consensus has spread among the employees of the Black Organization: whenever Bourbon, that all-around talent, learns a new skill, he dumps one of his ex-boyfriends.
During an undercover investigation, Vermouth watches Bourbon flirt with the target while effortlessly disguising himself as a woman, and is deeply impressed.
How is he so good at it?
Bourbon considers this. "I learned from an ex-boyfriend."
Why an ex-boyfriend?
Bourbon smiles. "Because he's dead."
And so, the cooking skills that let him poison a target without a trace came from an ex-boyfriend who was a hotel chef; his marksmanship, which lets him hit a target after ricocheting a bullet from a hundred meters away, came from an ex-boyfriend who was a mercenary; and the habit of doing exactly what he's told not to do... also came from an ex-boyfriend who was a rebellious student.
Everyone in the Black Organization: Your ex-boyfriends are on a monthly subscription plan!!!
Kirishima Renji smiles. "No, I'm the reusable kind. I'm all about being an eco-friendly boyfriend."
★★★
Ensemble version: An accident during their police academy days entangles the science-minded Rei Furuya and his friends in supernatural events from then on.
There's also a pair of dice. Actually, it's mostly about the dice. Dice are the most unscientific things in existence!
Sadistic KP: Some of you seem to have a lot of pent-up resentment, but that's no excuse for your entire team to fail three consecutive shooting rolls, thank you very much.
Police Academy Group: So why does a group of police officers have to roll dice to shoot?!!!
The bookstore owner, rendered illiterate after a disastrous library roll, says nothing...
Later, they discover that this investigation team seems to be recruiting new members all the time.
So you get to see:
★ A high school karate girl witnesses a bizarre entity and screams hysterically, yet her sanity remains rock solid.
★ A genius young scientist's pupils quake as she tries to intimidate Gin.
★ A washing machine's singing voice rings in someone's ears, yet the target is moved to tears.
★ An ace FBI agent confidently takes aim with a sniper rifle, only to miss by a distance greater than the Earth's orbit.
★ A blond public security officer critically fails at charming his ex-boyfriend, unleashing a tragic romance of love and hate.
Dual viewpoints, Rei is the right-side pairing. The Police Academy Group takes the lead early on, with a bit of an ensemble cast.
My own take on tabletop roleplaying. The author has played before but isn't an expert. The scenarios are entirely made up. The focus is on the Detective Conan universe, and you can follow along even if you don't know tabletop roleplaying.
