The Sun Shines on Spring Days

A sensitive, insecure, low-level INFP girl x a high-level INFP golden boy

In high school, Song Huanian moved in with a friend of her late father and fell in love with the friend's son, Shen Yi.

Shen Yi was a regular at the top of his grade. Cool and reserved, unfailingly polite to everyone, and racking up competition awards, he was a celebrated figure in the honors class at No. 1 High School.

Song Huanian, on the other hand, was living under someone else's roof. She was insecure and timid, and the bravest thing she could do was quietly work hard and gather her courage to squeeze into the physics competition class Shen Yi attended.

The training camp bus arrived at the competition base. That night, the honors class students played Truth or Dare. When it was Shen Yi's turn, he said he had a girl he had a crush on, and his classmates burst into laughter. They all teased him by looking toward the honors class girl sitting beside him. She smiled calmly, unhurried and confident.

Song Huanian watched everything from a short distance away, her heart sinking halfway.

Song Huanian was distracted for days. At last, she couldn't take it anymore. She bought two milk teas and waited for Shen Yi outside the classroom, pretending not to care.

"Here. Two milk teas. One's for you."

Shen Yi had a prominent brow ridge and a calm gaze. "And the other one?"

"That one's for you too. Give it to the girl you like. Think of it as a gift from me to my future sister-in-law."

"Mm. It's for you."

"...What's for me?"

"The other milk tea."

The words twisted around and around in Song Huanian's mind. She couldn't make sense of them in time. With a thump, both milk teas hit the ground and splashed everywhere.

In the eyes of the honors class students at No. 1 High School, Song Huanian was a complete joke:

She had little talent for physics but insisted on joining the competition class. She couldn't afford training camp, came in last every time, and still refused to give up. Her gaze kept drifting toward Shen Yi.

The legend who had made it into the national team as a sophomore, with a guaranteed place at a top university.

Everyone treated Song Huanian as a topic for idle chatter. No one knew that they had once kissed in a damp, rainy night, longing for the next spring with all their hearts.

And no one could have imagined that the unremarkable girl they had looked down on would become Shen Yi's unattainable love, his unreachable ideal, and his lifelong regret for more than a decade.
