On May 4, 2021, Jose Mourinho reached an agreement to coach Roma. The two sides signed a three-year contract, officially making him Roma's head coach.
Mourinho really did want to grow alongside Roma, but unfortunately, the team's lack of depth made that impossible.
During the summer transfer window, Pedro, Florenzi, and Dzeko left. Roma brought in goalkeeper Patricio, defender Vina, Ibanez, and forwards Abraham and Shomurodov. But the midfield was still a major headache for him.
Just as Mourinho was scratching his head, one of Roma's youth coaches recommended a young player.
"Boss, take a look at one of the gems from our academy, Matteo Rossi. He just turned nineteen, plays defensive midfield, and is an absolute physical beast!"
Mourinho looked up. "What about his technique?"
"Uh, I think we can start by looking at his physical abilities."
Mourinho: ??? He had a bad feeling about this.
"And his brains?"
"Uh, well, I think we can start by looking at his physical abilities too."
Mourinho: ...
At any rate, Matteo soon made his first-team debut for Roma, singing and dancing all the way.
Scene One:
Mourinho: Please, I'm begging you. This is Serie A, not the Premier League. Go easy on the tackles!
Rossi: Sure, I get it. Don't worry, boss!
Once on the pitch, Matteo went on a rampage, beating up the senior citizens at the South Mountain nursing home and kicking the kids at the North Sea kindergarten. After one smooth string of moves, three opposing players were down.

At one in the morning, Mourinho's phone rang.
"Boss, are you asleep? You made me cry today. You have to apologize!"
Mourinho: "??? Do you know what time it is?"
"Yeah, it's one in the morning, but I can't sleep. I'm upset!"
Just like that, the happy little pony and the angry little bird had a full hour of childish arguing back and forth.
The next day at training, Rossi, having gotten his grievances off his chest and feeling full of energy, saw Mourinho and waved cheerfully. "Good morning, boss! What a lovely day!"

After thinking it over, Roma's squad and financial troubles really do make winning the Champions League impossible, so later on he'll transfer with Mourinho. I haven't decided where yet, so that's tentative for now.
