[We’re very sorry, but the author is busy for the third time and updates are temporarily suspended. We expect to return early next year.]
Chi Bailu worked herself to the bone until she had earned enough for her parents to enjoy a comfortable retirement, but she herself was nearing the end of her life due to illness. She thought she’d finally be free, but then, for some inexplicable reason, a System dragged her into another world. It went on about “the wishes of countless readers,” “changing regrets,” and “reclaiming knives,” without even telling her the book’s title?
Fortunately, the System also gave her a golden finger, and Chi Bailu could choose any identity in the “book.”
“Since the novel is in the mystery and supernatural genres... Mystery must involve solving cases, and supernatural means nonhuman beings, right? Hmm... Then I’ll be a police officer with maxed-out combat skills who can interact with supernatural beings!”
That was the choice of Chi Bailu, who’d been so obsessed with making money she hadn’t read many novels.
However, after working hard once again and finally making it to first-class police officer sometime after the turn of the millennium, Chi Bailu stared at the main quest, which hadn’t budged in all this time, and fell into deep thought.
It wasn’t until her department issued a stern notice calling for a crackdown on tomb-raiding crimes that Chi Bailu followed her instincts and invited Boss Wu, who ran an antiques shop, to dinner. She hoped to find some clues about tomb raiders fencing their loot. The moment she heard his full name, she suddenly remembered a novel she’d only read the beginning of as a teenager in her “previous life.”
Well, it turned out she’d transmigrated into The Grave Robbers' Chronicles.
But... could someone tell her what regrets a police officer could possibly change in this book?!
The regret of not sending the main characters to prison?!
#A story about a heroine dedicated to sending the male leads off for reform and re-education (not really)
#A story that tries to explain the supernatural with science (yes!)
One of the author's aims in writing this novel is to educate readers about the law (very much so)
0. Apologies for the extremely long blurb and all the warnings, orz.
1. Inspired by jokes about The Grave Robbers' Chronicles: “The uncrackable mechanism is the public security agency,” “There are police behind the Bronze Gate,” and “The ten years were actually spent in prison” (.). The series has reached another ten-year mark recently. The author saw so many incredible fan works and happily fell into the fandom, and wanted to contribute something too. The author will do their best to keep the original characters true to their canon personalities. If anyone notices them acting out of character, please let the author know. The author would be happy to discuss it and make revisions.
2. There will most likely be no CP, but there’s an extremely small chance there might be, so it’s tagged as no CP. The author ships Ping Xie and Hei Hua, both romantically and platonically. If the heroine does end up with someone, it won’t be any of them.
3. Information about life in the millennium-era society and the structure of the criminal investigation system comes from the author's research into books, novels, TV dramas and films, and various browser encyclopedias. There may be omissions or errors. If you spot any problems, please leave a comment to let the author know. The author will definitely fix them!
4. The tone of this novel jumps back and forth between A Bite of China, Classic Legends, Into Science, and Legal Report. The heroine's thought process is as unconventional as the author's, so please forgive the readers who get caught off guard, orz.
5. There is a System, but it’s less noticeable than the heroine’s cheat abilities, and the System has almost no influence on her actions.
6. The heroine has her own career storyline, which may take up quite a bit of space. She won’t follow the main cast the whole way.
7. Updates are irregular. The author is still catching up on the entire original series, and may make major revisions if they later discover this fanfic doesn’t hold together logically.
8. More to come if anything else occurs to me.
Theme: Taking action is itself a way of resisting despair
Thinking carefully about the result of the reasoning, it's actually pretty much the same hhhh, and then it's quite difficult to get into it after thinking about the logic. Especially the grandmother and mother of the puppy's family are both ladies from official families, so they have quite a bit of energy in this aspect.
This theme is really fun
