Elder Brother

Hua Yu was brought to the capital at fourteen and lived peacefully as a young lady of the house for three years. Then one day, she learned that she was not her father's biological daughter.

From that day on, she began having strange dreams with increasing frequency.

Her aloof, self-possessed elder brother always appeared in them.

For instance, the day before, tea had spilled and soaked her clothes, and all he did was have someone bring her a handkerchief. He didn't even glance at her.

But in her dream, he wiped away every trace of the water himself, then studied her inch by inch with his cold, dark eyes.

Hua Yu couldn't believe it. Thinking she was possessed, she began deliberately keeping her distance from her elder brother, little by little.

He seemed to notice.

That night, the dream grew even more intense.

The next day, as he helped her up in front of everyone during her greetings, his icy fingertips brushed her wrist bone. Hua Yu nearly went weak in the knees.
