The Loyal Hound of a Secret Guard

Shen Qingci, the legitimate daughter of the Shen family, finds a dying boy on a bitterly cold road near the border. Moved by his stubborn gaze, she ignores the objections and brings him home to nurse him back to health.

The boy has lost his memory and has nowhere to turn. She gives him the name Jin, keeps him as her personal attendant, teaches him to read and write, and cares for him in his daily life. They spend years together, close and inseparable.

A Jin grows into a tall young man, secretly training until he becomes highly skilled in martial arts. His dependence on Shen Qingci has long since become deep affection, but because of their master-servant relationship, he buries his feelings, daring only to think, "If I can be her dog and stay by her side, that's enough."

Others mock him for currying favor, but he is content with it. Yet his growing possessiveness eventually leads him to deliberately distance himself from her.

A Jin's coldness is the first thing to make Shen Qingci feel she is losing control, and her buried possessiveness erupts completely. She uses the debt he owes her to bind him to her, forcing him to stay by her side and forbidding him to go even half a step away.

Then Shen's father is ambushed, and Shen Qingci finds herself in danger. A Jin steps forward to protect his master, fighting until he is covered in blood. His loyalty and skill finally change everyone's opinion of him.

As she keeps watch by his sickbed day and night, Shen Qingci comes to see the deep affection in her heart. Her father's approval and promise to free A Jin from servitude let him put aside years of insecurity. Breaking through the bonds of master and servant and escaping prejudice over their status, these lovers, brought together by salvation and caught in a push and pull, finally overcome the obstacles of society...
