Childhood Sweethearts

She was once a noblewoman of the capital, betrothed since childhood to a man blessed with every advantage. They grew up together, innocent and inseparable. Then, overnight, her family was ruined, framed and forced to flee south to Jiangnan. When he returned from war, all that remained was a city in ruins and a broken betrothal.

Through three years of Jiangnan's misty rain, she hid her past. Yet as the realm fell into turmoil, she lay awake night after night, worried for him.

When they met again, he was a cold-faced general returned from a blood-soaked battlefield, fierce and ruthless. Only when he saw her did his eyes redden.

An old betrothal contract, a conspiracy by their fathers, and an imperial marriage decree pushed them into an abyss of love and hate.

He kept her by his side, binding her with both affection and power. She lost the will to live and refused food, hating him for forcing her into a corner.

Only after she gave birth amid wind and snow, and the truth came to light, did he offer his military power as the betrothal gift and the realm as their matchmaker. He cleared her family's name and overturned the verdict, asking only for her forgiveness.

Their childhood love, their longing across the divide between life and death: after all their twists and turns, she had always been the only woman he would call his wife.

Theme: Though love lies beyond mountains and seas, mountains and seas can be crossed.
