Blurb:
Back in her school days, Tang Yiai couldn't stand boys who put on airs.
Like Qi Liancheng.
He was the talk of the school, tall and lean, with strikingly handsome, aloof features. Whenever he passed by, whispers followed in his wake. His looks were near perfect, and his mind was just as exceptional. He always claimed the top spot in his grade.
But he didn't like socializing. He was always alone, and never smiled.
Even with his cold, solitary personality, everyone liked him.
For no particular reason, though, Tang Yiai just couldn't stand his "strange" behavior. She thought he used his good grades as an excuse to act special.
Once, her deskmate mentioned that Qi Liancheng had a tragic past: both his parents had died when he was young, and he lived with his grandmother.
He often skipped evening study sessions to earn money and help support the household.
From then on, Tang Yiai's prejudice against him began to fade.
That very night, when she got home, she saw him working the night shift at her family's bookstore.
In Tang Yiai's third year of college, her mother, Tang Ning, who had been single for many years, suddenly announced that she was getting married again.
Tang Yiai neither objected nor supported the idea. She only asked her mother to bring the man home so she could meet him.
As soon as she finished speaking, a man stopped behind her.
"Hello. I'm Sister Ningning's future husband."
Tang Yiai couldn't help wincing at the nauseatingly familiar form of address. When she realized who had spoken, her smile vanished at once.
When she looked up and saw his face...
Her world came crashing down.
Back then, to drive him away and keep him from her mother, Tang Yiai had said plenty of cruel things to him.
Two years had passed. How was he still clinging to her mother?
And somehow, they'd even gotten their marriage license?!
Reading Guide:
1. The heroine has a romantic past, while the hero is inexperienced. She is 18 years older than him. The hero doesn't date during high school.
2. The story focuses on both the mother-daughter relationship and the romance.
3. The mother has a wonderful personality and great charisma, and has many admirers. Her ex-husband still can't forget her after all these years, so there's plenty of romantic rivalry.
P.S. The age gap between the heroine and hero is large, so please keep that in mind before reading. The story isn't based on real people. Please don't bring up anyone from real life.
The term "school heartthrob" is admittedly a bit cheesy. I used it to make the story easier to understand, but will change it later.
