Visitor on a Rainy Night

A string of torrential downpours triggered flash floods, cutting off the only mountain road connecting Wujiang Town to the outside world. Shan Pinglan was stranded there for seventeen nights.

On the first night, carrying a hefty bounty on his head and badly wounded, he staggered into a clinic. Miraculously, a little blind man saved his life.

On the second night, unable to pay his medical fees, he was kept on as a menial helper by the young physician to work off his debt.

To avoid unnecessary trouble, he kept his real name secret.

The fifth night, the sixth, the seventh...

Out of gratitude, Shan Pinglan became the young physician's guardian, turning away every sort of nuisance: troublemakers, rowdies, matchmakers, and more.

On the xth night, the love poison struck with a vengeance, leaving him delirious and confused. He shamelessly pinned his lifesaver beneath him and spent the entire night entwined with him in silence.

As his consciousness blurred, Shan Pinglan failed to hear the man in his arms murmur his real name, as if confirming it. Warm fingertips brushed over the old scar across the bridge of his nose.

Lu Huaizhou is a skilled physician, kind and humble, and a genuinely good person. But he is gentle by nature, blind and frail, and looks like an easy target for anyone wanting to take advantage of him. Having gotten a taste of the good life, Shan Pinglan worries about what Lu Huaizhou will do when he is gone.

Before leaving Wujiang Town, he wants to help the young physician learn to stand up for himself.

On the x+nth night, before Shan Pinglan could do a thing, he was the one pinned down! Who knew the young physician had so much energy at his age? He turned out to be quite the force to be reckoned with!

On the seventeenth night, the rain stopped. He had no excuse to stay any longer, and it was time to settle old scores.

Reader's Guide

1v1, happy ending, switch, 12-year age gap

Shan Pinglan x Lu Huaizhou

Love at first sight x affection that grows over time (though it doesn't take long)

Note: The first protagonist is somewhat melancholic and has a slight self-destructive streak. The second seems gentle and perceptive, but is actually prone to extremes.

Lastly, I wrote this because I'm into mute x blind. There's not much of a main plot; it's mostly about healing old wounds and falling in love √

I've read very little wuxia, so the setting is just a loose backdrop, not a proper wuxia story. The writing is also rather amateurish, so apologies in advance if it takes you out of the story.

A very short story

Theme: Don't run away, don't run away, don't run away
