Synopsis
In his previous life, Yan Tufei was an edgy high school student who loved playing video games. After getting hit by a truck, he transmigrated into a wasteland world.
What he didn't know was that he had actually transmigrated into a survival game set in a wasteland. He also had no idea that he'd been living in a fallen zone controlled by the supernatural, where all his friends, classmates, and even passersby were monsters corrupted by the supernatural.
He grew up in an orphanage in the fallen zone and made it all the way to university. After graduating, he went home to inherit the only thing his parents, whom he had never met, had left him before they disappeared:
a run-down little clinic.
The clinic was completely bare, without even a proper medicine cabinet. All he could do was wrap bandages around people.
Until, after he finished bandaging a "patient," a transparent panel that only he could see suddenly appeared before him.
By turning in the various valuable [items] wanted by the panel, or completing its [upgrade tasks], he could upgrade and expand the clinic!
Yan Tufei's eyes lit up.
Wasn't this just like a business simulation game?
So Yan Tufei started asking the "NPCs" who came seeking help for their bounty items, and even went with them to all sorts of places to complete tasks.
He thought the upgrade tasks would be difficult. The "NPCs" told him this one was sure to be a near-death mission, but when he reached the place supposedly rated five stars in difficulty, where survival was all but impossible, and saw the familiar iron gate of his old orphanage and the gatekeeper relaxing inside with a cup of tea
Wait, isn't this my home?!
-
The world was overrun by the supernatural. Under the leadership of the "Overseer," humanity established survivor bases.
To expand humanity's safe zones, the bases created the "Survival System." Those chosen by the System had to leave the base regularly and enter fallen zones to clear out the supernatural and earn points.
The world outside the bases was full of danger, while medical care inside them was unbelievably expensive.
Though points could even be used to restore one's body, most people would rather go blind or limp than spend their hard-earned points on a chance to heal.
That is, until they stumbled upon a run-down clinic in a fallen zone...
The clinic's doctor was not only kind, treating them in exchange for a few scraps, but also willing to help with their tasks and enter all kinds of dangerous places to clear out the supernatural: a haunted orphanage, a haunted high school, and a haunted medical school.
But the doctor looked so young, and his supernatural veins were frighteningly tough.
The children in the orphanage danced with joy when they saw him. The terrifying staff at the high school would give him snacks. Even the students at the medical school who looked like they were on their deathbeds respectfully called him Senior Yan!
Watching Doctor Yan chatting happily with the supernatural, the people who'd come to "clear them out" belatedly broke into a cold sweat:
Wait, what were they here to do again?!
-
After surviving a near-death ordeal that cost him a mountain of snacks and toys, and finally escaping his clingy little brothers and sisters, Yan Tufei completed his upgrade task.
But after finally getting the clinic upgraded, nobody came by.
Yan Tufei had been eager to test the new features, but moped around for days.
Just as he was thinking of closing up and taking a few days off, someone claiming to be from the "Base" appeared in the clinic, covered in blood.
The man was barely clinging to life, and Yan Tufei had just unlocked a medicine cabinet. He was completely at a loss.
No, this is a bit beyond me...
With nothing to lose, he treated him like a lost cause and wrapped him in bandages until he somehow brought him back to life.
He thought he'd done a good deed, but the man refused to leave!
He even claimed he'd been the Base's Overseer, but had lost his memory after being framed by a villain. Unable to repay the life-saving favor, he wanted to offer himself to his benefactor, give up his old life, and stay with Yan Tufei as his wife...
Yan Tufei: What is this supposed to be? Isn't that story you're making up a little too ridiculous?
And hey, buddy, you're a man! (╯‵□′)╯︵┻━┻
[An edgy, play-the-pig-to-eat-the-tiger, self-proclaimed domineering boss, doted-on receiver x a sulky, shameless, split-personality pretty boy who wants to be a clingy, shameless pursuer]
One-on-one, equally matched, both first-timers, happy ending
[Reading Guide]
1. The world has game elements. The receiver starts with amnesia and gradually regains his memories later on.
2. The receiver's golden finger is pretty powerful early on. The beginner phase is lighthearted, but later, after he leaves the beginner village (metaphorically), facing powerful enemies will put him under some pressure.
3. The pursuer will make his proper entrance at the point mentioned in the blurb. He'll have plenty of scenes after that (and plenty of drama), and won't just be a background character.
Probably a medium-to-long novel. I'll start posting after I've written more than half. You're welcome to add it to your collection!
