Cen Qingmiao is the only daughter of the Qingyu Sect's leader, making her the young lady of the entire sect.
Though she's a young lady, the Qingyu Sect is just a small sect among the countless immortal mountains, not worth mentioning beside the truly great sects.
With the sect in decline, her father plans to marry her off.

Later, they meet some friends, save many people, and kill many people.
At first, Cen Qingmiao only wants to punish evil and uphold justice, to vanquish demons and defend the righteous. But as they travel, she suddenly realizes: Why is the world so rotten?
Still, it doesn't matter. She and Li Lai are together, and they have their friends. They shout about friendship and bonds and charge in with their swords.
As she leaves the mountain, Cen Qingmiao says, "I'm going to become the world's greatest sword immortal. Then who'll dare force me to marry?"
Li Lai says, "All right."
When Cen Qingmiao saves people in villages and towns, she says, "I'm going to become the leader of the righteous path. Then I won't let these bandits run rampant."
Li Lai says, "All right."
At last, Cen Qingmiao reaches the foot of the Stairway to Heaven. "Why can’t the wicked in this world ever be wiped out? I'm tired of killing them."
Li Lai says nothing. In silence, he draws his sword, its blade gleaming coldly, and cuts down the long stairway to heaven built by the false-faced rulers above.
