Orange Blossom the cat is the future heir to a village of monsters.

She is determined to become the greatest monster of all, so as soon as she comes of age, she packs her bags and heads to the big city to find work.

She never expected it would be so hard to get established in the big city.

A master tells her, "I cast a divination. You need to take an unconventional path to avoid getting caught up in the rat race."

Orange Blossom: "What I want is to become a great monster."

The drunken master gets angry. "Shut up. There are top talents in every line of work. Pick one: matchmaker, gossip reporter, or street sweeper."

The little one sniffs and gets to work.

Orange Blossom soon discovers the endless possibilities that come with this niche industry.

The path doesn't matter. The result does.

She opens all kinds of small businesses, making connections everywhere, broadening her access to resources and information, and keeping tabs on how all the various factions are moving.

If no other monster will do it, this kitty will.

She burns a figurine for a ghost girl. Result: "One star. My brother doesn't look like that at all."

She handles a divorce case for an ancient divine artifact. Result: "Bring your current emperor here."

Then she has to find a job for a monster who's ten thousand years old. The monster says, "Have you ever seen an alien wipe its butt with bamboo strips?"

Little by little, her sphere of influence grows until the whole street is Orange Blossom's turf.

At last, she starts showing her fangs, taking territory, becoming a great monster, and keeping male concubines (not really).

One year, at the national monster bureau's annual convention, Orange Blossom adjusts her glasses. "I'm just a peace-loving..."

Everyone grits their teeth and curses her under their breath. "Bah! A cat pretending to be harmless while eating the tiger."
