Chu Sui, a luckless migrant worker who has left home to make a living in a major city, finds a decent apartment in a nice complex for a surprisingly low rent. The landlord is a world-class salesman who talks circles around Chu Sui, and Chu Sui quickly pays up and signs the lease.
Then he sees the friendly husky next door walking a neighbor who crawls along the ground after dark.
Whenever he passes the security booth on his way out, the guard never blinks.
The reflection in the bathroom mirror repeatedly stares at him, moving half a beat behind him.
Chu Sui: "..."
After finally tracking down the landlord's phone number, which seems to have vanished into thin air, he tries to break the lease, only to discover that the contract requires a minimum three-month stay, with a three-thousand-yuan penalty for breaking it.
The penny-pinching worker decides to put up with it a little longer.
Then the whole city starts turning strange. From his home to the apartment complex to his workplace, everywhere he goes is haunted by the uncanny.
He grits his teeth and pays the penalty, crouching in his bedroom as he presses down on his suitcase and locks it shut. He's about to call a taxi, get as far away as possible, and go home to his mom when...
A hand slowly reaches out from the half-open wardrobe behind him, its slick, icy touch covering the back of his neck.
At the same time, a black head stretches out toward him, and a chill shoots from his tailbone straight to the crown of his head.
"Darling, am I the only piece of luggage you can't take with you?"
