[Rekindled romance] [A tangled soul x a lover who won't be driven away]
A resilient wildflower who completes her education with financial aid x a carefree, bold surgeon with passionate love
Lin Jingyu is naturally sensitive, and her experience receiving financial aid only deepens her insecurities.
Yet this insecure girl was the one who volunteered to tutor the son of the company that funded her studies at a scholarship award ceremony. She wanted to repay the people willing to help her in whatever way she could.
Tan Siran wanted to make sure he had enough free time for fun, so he refused outright. "You don't even have a teaching certificate. What makes you qualified to teach me?"
Lin Jingyu said one thing, and Tan Siran was left speechless.
"I've seen your report card. I beat you in every subject. So tell me, am I qualified?"
The girl who was meek and timid in front of everyone else was completely merciless toward Tan Siran. In fact, she could be downright cruel.
Only Tan Siran knew just how bitter it was.
[Bonus Scene 1]
Lin Jingyu: "I heard you have a quiz coming up?"
Tan Siran looks wary. "How do you know everything?"
Lin Jingyu: "Let me see the paper."
Tan Siran grits his teeth and hands over his Chinese test, which he had only just passed, to the teacher who meddles from here to the Pacific Ocean. His heart pounds with anxiety.
"Good." Lin Jingyu glances over the test. "Copy each poem you had to recite ten times, copy each classical Chinese translation ten times, and rewrite your essay."
Tan Siran is barely alive, and silently swears he'll never have anything to do with this woman again.

Eight years later, when they meet again, Lin Jingyu remembers him saying only two things.
"Let's not see each other again."
"I'm getting engaged."
The young master of the Tan family talks tough, but his actions never match his words.
At his sister's matchmaking banquet, he discovers that the man across from him is Lin Jingyu's "boyfriend." Even though that woman had hurt him deeply, he wouldn't let anyone else have the chance to hurt her.
At the end of the corridor, he grabs the man's collar, his eyes fierce and sharp, as if he might devour him alive. "You're not good enough for her. Lin Jingyu can only be mine!"
After that, the man who had said they should never meet again starts showing up in front of Lin Jingyu all the time.
Until one day, he staggers drunkenly to Lin Jingyu's home. "Jingyu, let's... let's get back together."
In that moment, Lin Jingyu seems to see the boy from back then, the one who would have given up the whole world for her.
[Bonus Scene 2]
On the first day of their marriage, Lin Jingyu gets a message from a student saying the lesson needs to be rescheduled. She glances at Tan Siran, fast asleep beside her, and replies, 'On my way.'
After the lesson, Lin Jingyu opens her phone and sees twenty missed calls and sixty WeChat messages.
[Lin Jingyu, I'm really mad right now!]
[That's three times! This is already the third time!]
[This is the third time you've slept with me and then run off!]
[Am I some kind of pathetic joke to you?]
[You won't answer my calls or my messages. You're disappearing on me again!]
[Lin Jingyu, don't make me beg. Reply to me already!]
[Wife? Honey? Baby? Reply as soon as you see this, or I'm going to worry about you.]
He really is an expert at changing his tune. Lin Jingyu looks at the barrage of messages, feeling a headache coming on, and can't help laughing.
A coworker leans over and asks, "Who is it?"
Lin Jingyu gives an awkward smile. "My other half."
