After Becoming Neighbors with the Teacher I Had a Crush On

Si Jiamu × Xu Jinghao

Xu Jinghao had once gently pushed Si Jiamu away.

She gave another student all the kindness Si Jiamu had yearned for as a young girl.

She had been Si Jiamu's art teacher in high school.

She was the object of all the girls' affection, admiration, and adoration.

The taciturn Si Jiamu was obedient and well-behaved in front of Xu Jinghao. She watched Xu Jinghao break up with her longtime girlfriend, and as graduation approached, she could no longer hide her feelings.

All she got in return was a line that still hurt to think about late at night:

[Si Jiamu, I wish you a bright future.]

Many years passed. Si Jiamu had imagined she might run into Xu Jinghao again.

But she never expected Xu Jinghao to become her neighbor.

More absurdly

She witnessed Xu Jinghao being cornered by her ex-girlfriend at the door, the two of them tangled up in an argument.

Xu Jinghao's fiery temper seemed to have changed a little, from the way she dressed to the way she spoke and acted.

But knocking on someone's door in the middle of the night was still exactly the sort of thing Xu Jinghao would do.

She leaned against the doorframe with a bright smile and asked softly, "Jiamu, have you had dinner?"

Si Jiamu's expression was calm. "I have, Teacher Xu."

Time never diminishes a beauty.

The fine lines on Xu Jinghao's face only added a charm she hadn't had before.

Si Jiamu hated herself.

Hated that she could still fall for her.

Even more, she hated Xu Jinghao for putting on a sexy nightdress and stirring up feelings that had been dormant for years.

Si Jiamu tugged at her shoulder strap and asked teasingly, "Teacher Xu, has it really been years since you've touched a woman?"

Single for years, Xu Jinghao had never been able to forget Si Jiamu.

The young student, so timid back then, had tears in her eyes. Now she wouldn't show Xu Jinghao the slightest trace of the vulnerability she'd once been willing to reveal.

She kept having the same dream over and over.

It got worse after she turned thirty.

Maybe she'd never love anyone else in her life.

At some point, Si Jiamu had taken over her heart.

She moved and changed jobs.

All so she could stand before her and be punished for her presumptuous assumptions.

Late-night advances, indulgence without limit.

The teacher who had once been so captivating, controlled, and composed now had red-rimmed eyes, brimming with tears.

She bent down, kissed the corner of Si Jiamu's lips, and asked in a soft, reverent voice, "Jiamu, could you fall in love with me again?"
