At the wrap party, glasses clinked as guests mingled. Shi Xujiang wore a red dress, her bright lips and pearly teeth dazzling beneath the lights.
She was chatting happily with someone, a champagne flute in hand.
When her phone rang, she picked it up and apologized with a smile. "Excuse me, I need to take this."
The other person nodded. Shi Xujiang stepped out onto the terrace. Her pale, delicate finger swiped right to answer a call from the man she had married for an alliance.
His deep voice was warm as he said, "You've been working hard lately."
The cold wind brushed her face, carrying a chill. Thinly dressed, Shi Xujiang couldn't help shivering, but still replied, "It's fine."
A low, faint crackling came from the other end before Fu Xu suddenly asked, "How much longer?"
Shi Xujiang leaned against the railing. "Not much longer."
"All right. I've turned on the heat at home." Fu Xu glanced at the bowl of brown sugar water he had just made. "It's on the table. I just made it. Come home early."
Shi Xujiang was a little surprised, though her voice remained even. "Okay."
On the day the TV series premiered, Fu Xu watched the leads kiss, their images reflected in his black half-rimmed glasses. His hand tightened unconsciously around his glass of water.
He opened their chat, his slender, elegant fingers flying over the screen. "You did a great job in your show."

Shi Xujiang heard her phone ping and unlocked the screen. The cryptic message leaped out at her:
"You did a great job in your show."
??? What was that supposed to mean????
Out of politeness, she instinctively typed "Thanks," then couldn't help asking, "How far did you watch?"
Fu Xu pressed his tongue against his cheek, irritated beyond words. All he could do was sigh and quietly type, "The part where you kiss the male lead."
Was he... jealous?
A mischievous idea came to Shi Xujiang. She typed it out one character at a time: "Are you jealous?"
Fu Xu's ears burned at her question. He didn't answer her directly.
After a long while, Shi Xujiang finally received two characters: "Sure thing."
Those two characters made her laugh. After a while, she explained, "It was just camera trickery. Don't be too jealous."
Well, who knew domineering CEOs watched short videos too and kept up with the trends?!
A quirky yet genuinely alluring actress x a vinegar-jar CEO who binges short videos for his wife
"Warnings: Poor writing, slow updates, written as the mood takes me, purely for fun. The protagonists love asking questions they already know the answers to and occasionally throwing in a little English."
(P.S. The heroine enters the entertainment industry after marrying into an alliance. This is not a traditional entertainment-industry story. Please don't associate the characters with real-life people. They may differ from the actual entertainment industry, so please look elsewhere if that bothers you. Thanks.)
