[Traditional Time Loop]
Wu Meng thinks she is just an ordinary office drone, working diligently from nine to five and never making enemies.
But she never imagined that after an ordinary day of overtime, someone would kill her again and again.
And the killer is hiding among her coworkers... or are they?
Note:
1. A short story, written for my own enjoyment
2. Inspired by Happy Death Day
3. Primarily a suspense story, with some romance, but not much
4. 1v1, both leads are each other's first and only, pure love
Check out my own full-length historical romance:
[Marriage Before Love]
#I Used Fortune-Telling to Predict a Husband Who Would Be the Death of Me!
#The heroine is clueless and flirts without realizing it, while her obsessive male lead gets turned into a lovesick puppy
As the old saying goes, don't stick your nose into other people's business. Si Yanmo clearly never took it to heart.
After being falsely accused of being a witch and dying in her previous life, she was finally reborn, complete with a money-making golden finger: fortune-telling.
But she just had to go and predict the death of Prince Qin Zhou Yanqing, a man doomed to misfortune, and ended up with the King of Hell himself on her heels.
The man even presented a marriage contract to the emperor and took her home as his wife.
Si Yanmo: Is he actually trying to marry me? This is just so he can kill me to keep me quiet!
And it's the kind of underhanded murder where he gives me a title first, so he can kill me without raising suspicion!
So after they married, she put her silver tongue to work and somehow convinced him to get her into the "system".
Si Yanmo was convinced that as long as she worked hard and climbed high enough, his knife couldn't reach her!
But on the day they had agreed to divorce,
the man stopped her as she tried to run off with her packed bags. His eyes were bloodshot, and his voice trembled:
"Don't go."
"Don't you like puppies? I can be one, too."
???
When did I turn this calamity into a dog?
The first time Zhou Yanqing saw that divine fraud, he was drawn to the beauty mark at the corner of her eye.
To protect her reputation, he proposed to her.
But...
It seemed she had misunderstood.
As he watched the girl babble on, trying to convince him not to kill her, all he could think was: a frightened kitten.
So he put away his fangs and supported her from behind.
She wanted to abolish human sacrifice, so he did.
She wanted to reform the law and bring change, so he made it happen.
She wanted to turn the world upside down, so he would back her up.
Until she finally confided in him.
She said that in her previous life, she had married someone, and once thought they would be together forever...
He couldn't hear the revenge plan she went on to describe.
All he knew was that his little madwoman had once wanted to spend forever with someone else.
Zhou Yanqing had never wanted to fight for power, but suddenly found himself thinking
that killing his brothers, murdering his father, and seizing the throne might not be beyond him.
Only when Si Yanmo was locked in the gilded cage the man had painstakingly built for her did she realize:
Predicting his death was not the most frightening part.
The most frightening thing was that she had become this man's only way out, and his obsession...
Bonus scene:
When Si Yanmo finally climbed to what she thought was the top, becoming the Prince of Qin's official diviner,
she discovered that even more people wanted to kill her.
"Wasn't I supposed to get the everyone-loves-me storyline?"
Wah, it's too high up here.
I'd better climb back down. Then there's only one person who wants to kill me!
Theme: Never stop saving yourself from danger, no matter how many times it takes.
The details are very well written. The psychology of the characters is particularly well written. This novel should be popular. It's time to film a drama
