After more than a century working in a marginal department of the Historical Revision Bureau, you awaken to a vast reserve of spiritual power by pure chance.
The good news: you've finally met the requirements for a promotion.
The bad news: the Bureau's secure jobs are like turnips in a field, one person to each spot. There may not be a suitable opening for you for several hundred years, unless you can make your employment record more impressive.
For example, by owning an S+ citadel.
That's a harder requirement than getting promoted. Even your supervisor suggests you might as well stay at your current post and wait it out. After all, an S+ rating requires every sword to reach max level and be happy in both body and mind, which is an awfully subjective and demanding standard. And you look tall and imposing, and hardly ever smile, so your coworkers can't help wondering if you'll be able to get along with the swords.
But after careful consideration, and with the encouragement of double pay for Bureau employees who care for their own citadels, you still built one of your own.
And years later, you unexpectedly earned an S+ rating.
Your coworkers all emailed to ask you for the secret. You silently set down the letter paper, picked up your pen, and replied: I don't know yet.
But when your attendant approached today, you instinctively raised an arm to make it easier for him to hug you. Then you heard him ask by your ear, "Is anything besides taking turns in bed okay today, too?" You turned your head and met his loving gaze, then ran a hand over his smooth hair. After a few moments' thought, you added to your reply:
I simply try to keep the attendant rotation fair and give every sword plenty of care each day.
As for exactly how much care... Well, best not to go into that. I just do as much as I can, within the limits of my stamina.
* Pure Touken Ranbu citadel, no other crossover series.
* Second-person Touken Ranbu, with the protagonist as the top. They won't be paired exclusively with any one sword.
* All swords are welcome, and so are fans of them. I'll try to write about as many swords as I can. Sorry if anyone is out of character.
Theme: Care for everyone
