Manta in G Major

Before Song Yuzhao could complete the paperwork to withdraw from school, she received a phone call.

"Miss Song, I know you're in a difficult situation. You can come see me and discuss a deal," said a deep, magnetic voice on the other end.

Song Yuzhao went as instructed to the presidential suite of a five-star hotel. A man in a perfectly tailored suit lounged on a leather sofa. A beam from the wall lamp fell across him, and a cigarette between his fingers sent wisps of smoke curling over his striking profile.

Hearing footsteps, Jiang Siyun didn't turn around. He stubbed out his cigarette and tapped the contract on the coffee table with his long fingers.

"If you agree, sign it. It takes effect immediately."

Song Yuzhao clutched the contract, her fingers trembling as she read it. Furious, she turned to leave.

Just as her hand closed around the doorknob, the man's voice drifted over. "I don't have much patience, and I especially dislike women's coy little games of playing hard to get. Think it through, Miss Song. Once you walk out that door, there won't be another chance."

Song Yuzhao opened the door, but stopped as she crossed the threshold. She turned back, eyes brimming with tears, and obediently returned to stand in front of him.
