Q: How does a natural-born schemer save Yokohama?
You: Thanks for asking. I just escaped from a laboratory, and am currently living the dream as a homeless drifter.
After washing up in the Slum, you join an organization called the Sheep and meet Nakahara Chuuya, who, like you, was born something other than human.
You can't stop the Sheep from betraying him, but you give Nakahara Chuuya an unshakable anchor of support. You also save a long-haired beauty from getting killed off.
Your ability is perfect for gathering intelligence, so you choose to work with the Special Division for Unusual Powers. Your daily routine is driving around Yokohama with your work buddy, cruising the streets like a couple of gangsters.
Later, you pick up a black cat and a lop-eared rabbit. Ah, no, perhaps a lop-eared dog-rabbit?
You: It looks like a lop-eared rabbit, and it also looks like a puppy.
In short, your new home welcomes new family members, and work goes smoothly. Everyone lives happily ever after.
After the Dragon Head Conflict ends, you start visiting orphanages at the government's request and adopt another cat, this time a white one.
Well, it's a tiger, but there's nothing wrong with calling it a cat...
During the Mimic incident, you and Dazai Osamu team up to save Oda Sakunosuke.
You also casually resolve the friendship crisis between him and Ango. Wearing sunglasses and holding ginger ale, you watch the three of them bicker, quietly taking no credit for your good deed.
After introducing two Mafia defectors to the Armed Detective Agency, your whole family gets caught up in the events of the Verlaine incident, the Moby Dick incident, the Cannibalism incident, and more, for one reason or another.
You: Yokohama sure is a city where everyone knows how to fight. (Sips tea serenely.)
Your family members gradually join the Armed Detective Agency, except for you and the lop-eared rabbit.
Suddenly, someone smears your name.
A certain kindhearted Russian helps spread the proof of your inhuman origins, claiming your ability can control people's emotions.
Overnight, the Detective Agency becomes the infamous Decay of the Angel. How terrifying!
You stroke your chin and ponder: It's called Decay of the Angel, but there are more than five members. How strange.
Atsushi, in a panic, carries you away: This is not the time to get hung up on that!
A certain onigiri (shrugs helplessly): Can't be helped. There aren't enough pages in the book, so I have to come down and frame you myself.
Anyway, after all your efforts, you defeat the evil Russian and return to your lovely everyday life.
You serenely stroke the calico cat who showed up uninvited.
Yokohama is as peaceful as ever today.
(The main story is in third person. Everyone gets saved. The protagonist is a saintly, natural-born schemer.)
(P.S. Written purely to indulge my tastes. Any out-of-character behavior is on me.)
(The timeline has been adjusted slightly.)
Warning: Verlaine and Rimbaud are a couple in the story. Enter with caution if you can't accept that.
