The Eleventh Year

In the eleventh year of his unrequited love for Fu Chen, Wen Shumo decided to let go.

From the innocence of fourteen to the clarity of twenty-five, he had spent the best years of his life dreaming of someone named Fu Chen. He thought he could quietly watch over him for the rest of his life as a "brother," until he saw Fu Chen being intimate with another man. So Fu Chen wasn't uninterested in men. He just wasn't interested in him.

Wen Shumo gave up completely and left for another country. When he finally found the courage to embrace new warmth beneath the foreign sun, Fu Chen, who had never once stopped for him, came chasing after him like a madman.

In a dim alley, Fu Chen pinned him down. His usually cool eyes were bloodshot, and he demanded hoarsely, "Wen Shumo, how long are you going to keep avoiding me?"

Wen Shumo looked at the man he'd loved for eleven whole years and answered softly, "Fu Chen, this time... I'm the one who doesn't want you."
