This is the best of times, and the worst of times. It's also an age that makes a Fate fan with no house or car, but a modest amount of savings from a past job, want to go home and order food delivery in those little yellow bags.
To be fair, Ed thinks packing food for delivery is a pretty good job.
It means a comfortable life, with food and clothes taken care of, and no need to scheme against bizarre members of the human race buckling under too much social pressure. For someone with social anxiety in both of his identities, it's a rare job that suits him perfectly.
So when he opened his eyes and saw the street scenery straight out of a Sherlock Holmes mystery...
Ed: Damn it! I don't want to eat British food!!!
Is this some plan to send a modern wage slave back to the late Victorian era to experience a historical revival?
Ed, who was about to enjoy his vacation on a cruise: What a devious, sinister plot!!!
"Do you know how hard it is for working adults to get a long vacation?!!"
Now he wasn't going on a cruise. He'd been dropped straight into London, grimly marching forward under the iron heel of the Industrial Revolution.
Above him, the sun shone over the foggy city beneath a cloudless sky.
Below him flowed the all-embracing River Thames.
In London's East End, before this thoroughly bewildered young man could even argue with the romantics who say you don't understand the wonder of transmigration unless you can get on the internet, his nasal and trigeminal nerves were brutally assaulted by the retro symphony in the air!
Hahahahahaha!!!
No wonder public health was so difficult to promote in the old days. Urban management was urgently needed.
Oh, a System called Sophia has suddenly appeared, saying he can play a secret identity game? Solve London's local "magic anomaly incidents" to unlock more secret identities and act out event scenarios?
Hmm, that sounds pretty appealing to a Fate fan... but...
Why start with the Count of Monte Cristo???
Dude, this is London! The Count of Monte Cristo is French!!!
Ed: Send me home, now! I don't want to spend a single second in this bleak life as an overseas student!!!
Sophia: But the Count has Golden Rule~ And it's Rank A, too!
Ed: ...
"All right! I'm living the rich life, whether you like it or not!"
◆
"How can you come to London and not include the greatest detective in history?"
"And since this is the era in question, how can we leave out the merciful and benevolent Goddess with the lantern? Count, who were you hiding from just now? Oh, an inspection... What?! Where did that fire come from?! Ed, who is this lady in black armor? A jailbreak? An escape? What is going on here???"
There's no need to save human history or worry about the Holy Grail War.
Singularities, Lostbelts, and Pan-Human History have all become things of the past.
Having set every burden aside, Ed hopes to let even these Servants, counterfeit versions or not, who can take on a thousand men and stand against ten thousand, enjoy these ordinary, peaceful days.
The all-seeing System, Sophia: Oh my~ Just admit you want to role-play. A fan's dreams are coming true one, two, three, four at a time. I totally understand~~
Ed: ...
"Enjoy this peaceful moment, fleeting as the blink of an eye."
If you're not satisfied, then we'll reshape it into something you like~
And so, after one certain person's popularity (or rather, sheer force of personality) turned the [RPG Travel Simulator] into [1886], Sophia suddenly reminded Ed, who was engrossed in a group outing with the Servants in the starting village, to stop playing in creative mode. He still had the main story and his destiny waiting to be unlocked.
Ed: Oh, right. Doesn't the quest log say I need to respect the Count of Monte Cristo's sense of duty and professional conduct?
Right, so what kind of industry should we set up?
"Why, of course... we go meet our so-called [Destiny]!"
Currently planned maps:
- Victorian-era supernatural London
- Spiritron Moon Cell Holy Grail War, school-life Tokyo
◆
Before you read:
- No pairings throughout... Well, except for the fate the Count comes with, which can't be helped~
- No secret identities get exposed. The setting doesn't perfectly copy reality; after all, there are Servants, so things are bound to be a fusion of all kinds of worlds.
Theme: I love the jailbreak Link Bad route! So when are CCC and Interlude II getting animated!!!
