Time Loop Trope, 2025.9.23 (Still terrible at writing blurbs)
When Matsuda Jinpei was at the police academy, he borrowed members of the bomb squad to help defuse a bomb. The culprit detonated it remotely, killing every bomb squad veteran there, including Matsuda.
But when he woke again, his chest heaving, there was no scorching pain from smoke and flames as he'd expected. Only the cool, dry air of early morning.
He froze in place, his pupils rapidly contracting and dilating in the darkness. There were no flames devouring everything, no twisted metal wreckage, only the blurry outline of a familiar ceiling.
A steady, monotonous ticking sounded in his ears.
He turned his head and looked at the bedside table.
The red numbers on the digital alarm clock showed, coldly and precisely: July 14, 00:00.
The very day he'd been killed by the bomb.
Eventually, he figured out that he'd entered a time loop.
The world would reset after one day, five times in a row. It seemed Matsuda Jinpei was the only one who could sense it.
Sometimes Hagiwara Kenji would ask, puzzled, "How did you know there'd be a car accident there, Jinpei?"
Matsuda would think to himself: Because I've been stuck in traffic for four days already.
After graduating from the police academy, the first time he saved Hagiwara Kenji in the loop, his whole body began to tremble.
Was this ability given to him by the heavens because all of them were going to die once?!!!
