My Husband Wants to Run Away from Home

Lin Yuchen is known throughout the capital as a henpecked husband. Only he knows that he married above his station when he pursued Su Yunyi, and she deeply resented him for using underhanded means to ask the emperor to arrange their marriage.

No matter how much Lin Yuchen tried to please Su Yunyi over the years, she remained unmoved.

Things changed when Su Yunyi suddenly invited a qin player into the inner courtyard. The neighbors all knew Lin Yuchen had spent years campaigning and had long assumed he was being cuckolded left and right. At first, Lin Yuchen thought this was like before: Su Yunyi was simply bored in the inner courtyard.

But this time, after returning victorious from a major battle, he planned to rest in the capital and spend time with Su Yunyi. Seeing her chatting sweetly and intimately with the qin player left a bitter knot in his heart.

For a moment, he thought that keeping Su Yunyi by his side all these years, just because she had once saved him by chance when they were children, was no better than letting her go free.

So Lin Yuchen immediately started moving out. Su Yunyi found it strange. Back then, in the Chancellor's residence, she had indeed been a concubine-born daughter with little standing.

She had been deeply grateful when Lin Yuchen came to take her away. But after noticing that her husband treated her with formal courtesy, Su Yunyi made sure not to overstep, even as she found him strangely attentive to her in subtle ways.

Su Yunyi, in turn, subtly treated Lin Yuchen well.

In the end, the qin player turned out to be a distant cousin of Su Yunyi's who had come to the capital to sit the imperial examinations. They had not seen each other in years.

Lin Yuchen had misunderstood.

This is a story about two people who are secretly in love with each other but never say it aloud, each quietly keeping the other in their heart.

Theme: Though love may lie beyond mountains and seas, they can all be crossed.
