The Bow Spans the World

He is a master bow-maker with unparalleled skill. He is a shrewd, military-minded prince, exiled and fallen from grace. Will their meeting be a romantic spark that sets the world ablaze, or a disaster from which there is no escape? Master: "Jieluo, today you turn ten. Have you made a wish?" Jieluo: "Yes, Master. I wrote my wish on a river lantern." Master: "Let me see it." Jieluo handed over an exquisite river lantern. But his fingertips were damp with morning dew, and when he picked up the lantern, they smudged two of the characters. The master looked closely, his eyes widening. "Conquer the world with a bow?" (At such a young age, he already wants to conquer the world?) Jieluo was about to nod, then shook his head. Stretching his neck to take a look, he pouted. "Oh, two characters have faded away. Master, I'll write it out for you again." In his elegant, bold handwriting, he wrote: "Hide every bow, and play with the world." Seeing his master's raised brows, Jieluo quickly explained, "Your disciple wants to hide every bow and arrow in the world and play a trick on the emperors who keep setting off beacons and starting wars! Then there'd be no more killing, right?" The master sighed, his face full of sorrow. He slowly began, "Jieluo, it's my fault for teaching you only how to make bows and arrows, and not letting you study other weapons. But even if you hid every weapon in the world, the killing would never stop... Because what truly takes people's lives isn't weapons, but selfish desires and greed, love and hate, and the coldness of the human heart."
