The tenth year since Earth became a wasteland, the seventh year since she entered an underground base, and the third year since she officially became a mechanic: Lian Xi had a meal with everyone.
After this most ordinary of dinners, she made a decision no one had expected.
That night, she stole a car, took her dog, and headed without looking back toward the surface world everyone called savage and cruel, beginning a romantic road trip from which there would be no turning back.
They all said she wouldn’t survive three days. Then news of her survival arrived in an unexpected way.
An incredibly audacious drifter had appeared in the wasteland and stolen several shipments. They said she wore a horned hat, wielded a silver wrench, and had a little dog in a cape by her side.
Her likeness was painted all over several nearby abandoned cities.
A few things to know before reading:
1. This is a low-key post-apocalyptic road story, not a stockpiling and endless-survival story.
2. There’s swearing. The heroine isn’t a super-genius, has no golden finger, and is just an ordinary person who can be impulsive and a little naive.
3. This story was inspired by the author’s dog, Duoduo, who is one of the main characters.
4. I originally wanted to write a fairy tale, and I still want it to be one.
