Everyday Farming in a Wasteland Apocalypse

*Wasteland, farming, reclamation, leveling up

Lu Xiaochun plans to work at a machine factory outside Base 177 and save enough money to study at the Agricultural College.

In this wasteland, her dream is as simple as everyone else's: to own a plot of land and have enough to eat at every meal.

Every student at the Agricultural College gets a plot of land. With uncontaminated soil comes food, and Lu Xiaochun can hardly wait.

The day before she enrolls, a seed she has been growing for ten years sprouts and gives birth to a ball of light.

The ball of light says its name is Farm System.

As long as Lu Xiaochun knows how to farm, there will be more good days than she can count.

Lu Xiaochun is overjoyed.

She may not know how to do much else, but she is an expert at farming.

That's because she has an evolutionary ability no one else knows about: she can hear the thoughts of living things.

If any seedling in the field feels unwell, Lu Xiaochun knows.

A hundred years into the wasteland era, the old civilization has fallen, and all agricultural knowledge is monopolized by the upper classes.

Lu Xiaochun knows that the planting knowledge she senses is an enormous secret, so she doesn't dare tell anyone.

But she can grow every plot of land well.

In the damp spring rains, Lu Xiaochun grows heaps of crisp, tender spring bamboo shoots, along with lush patches of shepherd's purse and pea shoots.

Under the blazing summer sun, the farm yields watermelons as big as cartwheels, plump and sweet, as well as fist-sized grapes and strawberries bursting with fragrance.

Even in the barren autumn fields, there are mutant persimmons and crisp, red pomegranates.

Even during the food-scarce depths of winter, Lu Xiaochun can grow fresh, glistening cabbages and radishes as long as an arm, too big to hug.

And so, by farming, Lu Xiaochun keeps herself and her younger sister well-fed and warm. She not only gets into the base's Agricultural College, but also becomes an agricultural expert revered throughout the wasteland.

Under her management, Base 199 eventually becomes a paradise that everyone in the post-apocalyptic wasteland longs for.

She makes sure that every wastelander has enough to eat.
