Fleeing Home With a Child in the Sixties

Li Sangyuan’s husband was a drunk who beat her. He had a terrible temper and refused to mend his ways. So when Li Sangyuan learned that she had a brother in Beidahuang whom she had never been in touch with, she finally made up her mind to take her children there. Her ancestors had once braved the journey to the northeast. Surely she could endure any hardship?

When she got there, Li Sangyuan discovered that life was actually pretty good. Unfortunately, even the farm couldn’t provide for that many people. Besides, Li Sangyuan had grown up in the countryside herself. Faced with a choice between being sent back to her registered hometown or finding herself a long-term meal ticket, she chose the latter. She set her sights on a man who also had a family to support, never imagining that the man’s younger brother had his eye on her too...
