[Silly, sweet, money-loving straight man × Cold-faced, scheming powerful official]
1.
Xiang Yunxian was a straight man through and through.
He said:
"My dream is to get something for nothing, accept unearned rewards, reap the benefits without working, rise to the top in one leap, and have a wife and kids waiting for me at home!"
Then he transmigrated into a book,
into a melodramatic dog-blood novel,
and even got saddled with a childbearing System.
Before Xiang Yunxian could react, an imperial edict arrived, and with ill intent, arranged his marriage to the original novel's great villain, Chai Shen.
On their wedding night, Chai Shen said to him with a cold expression:
"Remember your place. Don't get any foolish ideas."
Xiang Yunxian thought: What do you think you are, money? Everyone loves you!
The next second,
Chai Shen: "There are tens of thousands of taels of silver in the residence's treasury. Take as much as you like. All I ask is that you play the part of my wife."
Xiang Yunxian: "You got it!"
2.
Xiang Yunxian had been living comfortably for less than half a day when the System poured cold water over him.
System: [Host's life points are insufficient. A Phase One task is now being issued.]
System: [Have a child with Chai Shen.]
Xiang Yunxian: Are you kidding me? I'm a man! A 24-karat, totally straight man!!!
With less than half a month's life points left,
Xiang Yunxian finally steeled himself, climbed into Chai Shen's bed,
and then stumbled away, clutching his sore back.
3.
Two months later, Xiang Yunxian stood outside Chai Shen's study, grinding his teeth.
Chai Shen: "I don't want to see you."
Xiang Yunxian: "You think I want to see you?! What are you, anyway... Urgh!"
Xiang Yunxian vomited until the world turned upside down. His maid and servants panicked, and the physician was so shocked he could hardly believe it.
"My lord, Madam's pulse... she's expecting!"
Chai Shen: ?
Little skit:
Xiang Yunxian was straightening his outer robe in front of a bronze mirror when a thought struck him.
"Chai Shen, you know? My life goal used to be having a wife and kids waiting for me at home."
"You've already achieved it."
Xiang Yunxian turned around in confusion, only to see Chai Shen smiling as he gently rocked the child in his arms.
"The child," he said,
then pointed at himself.
"Your wife."
Please note:
1. This is a childbearing System story, so the recipient will definitely give birth.
2. This is a marriage-first, love-later story, so they definitely won't be in love at the beginning.
3. This is a silly, absurd transmigration-into-a-book story that doesn't take itself too seriously. Don't get hung up on the details, owo.
Chai Shen is 25, Xiang Yunxian is 18. Both are adults in body and mind and look like ordinary adults.
