Sin and Punishment on Judgment Day

1.

In the future, crime is an ever-present shadow, seeping into every corner of society, from petty theft and robbery on the streets to carefully planned murders. Evil is everywhere.

The wail of police sirens echoes day and night. Criminals hide their bloodstained weapons and brush past speeding police cars, wearing openly cruel grins.

People in the past dreamed that the future would be a utopia.

People today can only look back at the stability of history.

As society spiraled out of control, the powerful people in charge waved their hands and launched a reality show made especially for criminals: Sin and Punishment: Judgment Day.

Every serious offender sentenced to fifteen years or more was required to participate.

They hoped to deter crime and bring down the crime rate. But after the show premiered, crime went up instead of down.

Because Sin and Punishment: Judgment Day was no trial. It was a killing game.

There was only one rule: Each episode began with fifty criminals. By the end of the allotted time, no more than three could still be alive. If more than three survived, everyone moved on to the next round. Anyone who survived an episode was declared innocent.

And so the desperate criminals finally understood:

No matter how heinous their crimes, they could survive as long as they killed enough people on the show.

Mingzao transmigrated.

She became another "Mingzao," a young woman falsely accused of murder, sentenced to twenty-five years in prison, and about to appear on Sin and Punishment: Judgment Day.

The original Mingzao had been quiet and honest, but a wrongful conviction had sent her straight to hell. She had watched the show and knew how cruel it was. The criminals there killed without limits, doing whatever it took to survive.

In despair, she had chosen to end her life.

And now Mingzao had woken up on the blood-soaked stage of that reality show.

The season she had joined was the first episode of the show's fiftieth season.

To "celebrate" the milestone, the number of contestants had been increased to one hundred.

Mingzao had to survive.

She had to be one of the hundred left standing.

But she didn't want to be just a survivor in this twisted world.

She wanted to raise her scythe

to reap sinners, but not only sinners.
