After a Slacker and a Workaholic Share a Body

Blurb:

Juan Wang is the protagonist of a futuristic interstellar leveling power fantasy. Exceptionally talented and hardworking, he rises from an obscure refugee in the Lower City to become the greatest mecha pilot in the stars. He never lets up along the way, making him the ultimate grind king.

A reborn supporting character who spent his last life living in the protagonist's shadow plans to make a comeback and outwork him to death.

But what does he see on the first day of orientation?

The grind king, who even reads while eating, is actually asleep with his head on the desk. Huh? Is this right?

As things go on, the reborn supporting character realizes that the grind king is very strange.

Sometimes he works himself to the bone, and sometimes he's unbelievably lazy. He's either asleep or on his way to sleep.

He often wonders if the memories of his past life were just a dream.

Then, during a simulation exam, the Zerg attack. The grind king, who had been drowsily piloting his mecha and swaying all over the place, suddenly perks up and lays waste to the enemy, earning cheers and admiration from everyone.

The reborn supporting character's face twists.

This guy has evolved into a show-off king!

Damn it!

When the grind king was eight, a homeless man beat him half to death in the Lower City over food. Just as he was giving up hope, his body stopped obeying him.

He watched himself grab a rock and smash it into the homeless man's head, heedless of the consequences.

He was saved by the stranger in his body, his god.

What's it like to share a body with a couch potato and a grind king, with no way to control when you switch?

Couch potato: I want to die. I'm exhausted. How can anyone have this much energy? Wouldn't it be better to sleep with all this free time?

Grind king: But we need to buy a house. Don't you hate living in the dorms? And there's the merch from your favorite singer, plus that frog-shaped mecha you like. If I work hard, we can get all of it.

Bottom: ...Fine.

Top: I'm still not working hard enough.

Bottom: Enough, seriously, that's enough!

Yeah, that line applies both early on and later.

Reader's guide:

1. A story that puts supporting characters through the wringer. There are plenty of reborn supporting characters.

2. The couch potato and grind king evolve into a show-off king.

3. The bottom will have his own body later on.

4. Both are each other's first love, and the top is younger.

5. Cozy daily life with a bit of silliness.

6. Subject to revision.
