Qing Xiangyi arrived in the lower realm amid rumors like these. After taking the form of a penniless little Daoist priest and wandering from place to place in search of opportunities, he was taken in by a kind immortal cultivator.
He studied diligently day after day, then learned that if he successfully taught a certain little prince, he would have earned enough merit to ascend straight back to the heavens.
But the little prince was spoiled and difficult to teach, and life in the palace was a constant tightrope walk.
Still, Qing Xiangyi only grew more determined with each setback. Little by little, the prince became obedient and sensible, too. Just as Qing Xiangyi thought their bond as master and disciple had grown deep enough for him to sit back and wait for his ascension, disaster came knocking.
“Liar!” the battered little prince, Zou Zhi, snarled, tears welling in his swollen, red eyes.
Meanwhile, Qing Xiangyi was pacing anxiously in the upper realm.
“Your love tribulation is not over.”
“It should be over,” Qing Xiangyi thought honestly. His Dao companion was completely dead, and he himself had closed the coffin lid.
“It is not over.” The Fate God calmly waved him away.
“...”
Having been teleported to a street in the lower realm, Qing Xiangyi casually grabbed a passerby and asked:
“Excuse me, do you know where this tribulation is?”
Before the passerby could answer with an eye roll, someone suddenly seized the immortal’s wrist and forced him to turn around.
“Here.”
The newcomer’s eyes were red, as if he had a thousand grievances he could never fully express.
“Master.”
“How many more times are you going to leave me behind?”
An immortal strokes my head, and we tie our hair together to share eternal life.
