Xu Qingfan works at a prestigious hospital and is swamped with work. His biological father and stepmother are constantly causing trouble, pressuring him to get married and have children. Sick of it all, he decides to find someone with a suitable personality and character for a whirlwind marriage. When his friend Song Heng hears about his plan, he quickly recommends someone and immediately sends him the time and place for the blind date.
Xu Qingfan arrives at the coffee shop and spots a stern-looking man at a window-side table, completely at odds with the shop's laid-back atmosphere. When the man sees him, he hangs up his call and introduces himself. "Hello, I'm Song Heng's uncle, Song Boyan."
Xu Qingfan: ...Song Heng's uncle, Song Boyan??? The current head of Yaoting Group???
After a brief conversation, the two men, who have no romantic history together, find themselves satisfied with each other and get married in a whirlwind ceremony a week after their blind date.
After the wedding, Xu Qingfan assumes that given Song Boyan's reasons for marrying and his busy schedule, they'll probably see each other only a handful of times a year. He'll be just as free as he was when he was single. Delighted, he thinks he made the right choice. But on their first night as a married couple, Song Boyan opens the guest bedroom door and says to Xu Qingfan, who's lying on the bed playing a game, "We may have married in a whirlwind, but I have no plans for us to sleep in separate rooms."
Song Boyan really is busy, but he lets Xu Qingfan know in advance when he has to work late. He checks in before and after flights when he travels, and brings him gifts when he comes back. When he's free, he drives to the hospital himself to pick Xu Qingfan up after a late shift. When Xu Qingfan gets sick, Song Boyan works from home to look after him...
Half a year into their marriage, Xu Qingfan wakes up in the man's arms once again one morning. He yawns, gazes at the handsome profile beside him, and sinks into thought: Is Song Boyan treating him well out of a spouse's sense of responsibility, or because he can't help loving him?
Song Boyan's life is like his calendar: everything is planned out sensibly. There are occasional changes, but nothing ever falls apart. Everything is under his control, until he marries Xu Qingfan in a whirlwind ceremony.
Marriage means little to him, but since he married Xu Qingfan to fulfill his grandmother's final wish, he intends to take on the responsibilities of a husband: care for and support his partner, and treat Xu Qingfan with mutual respect. But as he gets to know Xu Qingfan better, he discovers that the steady emotions he has always prided himself on are repeatedly stirred up and thrown into disarray by him...
