Mom, Don't Leave Me. When I Grow Up, I'll Get You Fine-Grain Buns

[1970s + Three-and-a-Half-Year-Old Darling + No Pocket Dimension or System + Hard-Core Survival + Childless Grandma + Women's Mutual Support + Everyday Family Life]

In the twelfth lunar month of 1972, the Lin family decided that three-and-a-half-year-old Lin Maibao, their seventh daughter, was a money-losing burden who only consumed grain. On a snowy day, they threw her into a ruined mountain shrine.

The whole village waited to see the joke, saying that Granny Chen, who had lost her entire family, had picked up a little girl nearly frozen to death. Neither of them would survive the snowy night!

But no one expected that little Maibao, her lips purple with cold, would cling tightly to Granny's ragged cotton trousers and say in her baby voice, with unwavering resolve, "Granny, don't leave me. Maibao won't cry. Maibao knows where to find sweet roots. I'll trade them for fine white-flour buns for you!"

With no miraculous pocket dimension and no immortal System, three-and-a-half-year-old Maibao relied on the street-smart instincts she had developed while struggling to get by in her previous life, along with her knowledge of medicinal herbs and rustic foods. She and the outwardly cold but inwardly warm Granny Chen depended on each other.

In winter, they smashed the ice to dig up wild kudzu roots. In spring, they gathered mugwort to trade for salt. In summer, they wove cattail leaves and made fermented tofu. In autumn, they cooked malt candy and bought barren land!

Her birth mother's family was so hungry they were chewing tree bark. They came to sell Maibao for a bride price? Granny blocked the door with a cleaver, while Maibao splashed them with a ladle of dirty dishwater and exposed their vile true nature!

See how the abandoned little girl whom the entire village declared would starve to death helps her lonely grandmother and the village's hard-pressed women band together and support one another. Starting from a leaky earthen house, they tough it out until they own two grand brick houses and become the only woman worth ten thousand yuan in the entire commune!
