The Government Is Giving Away Wives, but I'm a Wanted Criminal, So I Don't Dare Claim One

After three years of continuous warfare, Dayong was running out of men. The court issued the "Heir-Bearing Order": Everyone who turned eighteen had to take a wife. The more wives you took, the greater the reward. Refuse, and you'd be conscripted.

As soon as Shen Shi came of age, he was saddled with three wives no one else dared take: the daughter of a disgraced official, a runaway slave, and a foreign prisoner of war.

For other men, taking a wife meant good fortune. For him, it meant defusing three bombs: one wanted to discuss killing him in his sleep, one bore a criminal brand on the back of her neck, and the last still had an official's rope tied around her wrist.

Worse, he was a fake himself. His household registration was borrowed, his name was stolen, and his true identity was a remnant of the former dynasty, wanted by the authorities.

Fortunately, the Incense and Fire Bureau System activated: if his wives genuinely accepted him, he could redeem a clean identity.

Shen Shi looked at the three negative scores on the panel and gritted his teeth. Warm them up! How hard could it be to win their hearts? Even if those numbers were negative, he'd warm them until they turned positive!

Only, nobody told him that as he kept warming their hearts, the way these three women looked at him would grow more and more strange...
