The Succubus Everyone Online Wants to Date Is Actually My Boss?

Qiao Mian has suffered from insomnia for three years.

White noise, melatonin, counting three thousand sheep, nothing works.

Until one Friday, when the director publicly rejects the succubus character she designed: not alluring enough, not sexy enough. Players won't pay for a face like that.

At the bar on the top floor of a hotel, she sees a real-life succubus.

His Adam's apple, his fingers, that languid look in the corners of his eyes. She sketches him on a napkin, then goes back to his room with him.

The next morning, she wakes after a full nine hours of sleep. She leaves two thousand yuan and a note on the bedside table:

"Thanks. I slept great."

At the all-hands meeting on Monday, the new boss takes the stage.

It's him.

Later, the succubus "Ye Lan," drawn in his likeness, goes viral across the internet. The hashtag stays on the trending list for three days: #YeLan I want to sleep with him#.

The new boss reads the comments, his expression darkening. "They want to sleep with me?"

Qiao Mian: "They mean Ye Lan."

"And who was Ye Lan based on?"

Later still, she discovers that the only way she can fall asleep is beside him, so she writes up a "Sleep Buddy Agreement":

Clause One: We only sleep.

Clause Seven: No falling in love. If one of us falls first, the agreement is void.

One yuan a night. Neither of us owes the other anything.

What she doesn't know is that he also fell asleep for the first time in six years that night. And she has no idea that the mysterious person who bought her goodnight illustrations at two every morning five years ago went by the name "Zhou."

He broke Clause Seven five years ago.
