The Day I Was Divorced, I Cured the Plague at My Street Stall

Ye Zhiwei, a divorced peasant woman with the medical skills of a traditional medicine family from her previous life, was driven out of the Lu household under the infamous accusation of being a medicine thief.

Her mother-in-law smashed her medicine chest, her ex-husband watched coldly, and the whole village waited for her to starve to death.

Ye Zhiwei didn’t shed a tear. She turned around and set up a shabby medicine stall at the entrance to town, changing her fate from that moment on.

Three doses of medicine brought the rampant malaria sweeping through the town under control. A single silver needle saved a hunter on the brink of death. Even the county magistrate’s elderly mother came to seek treatment in person.

In just one year, her shabby medicine stall became Jimin Hall, famous throughout Qingzhou. The poor could trade labor for medicine, barren hills became hundreds of acres of medicinal fields, and Ye Zhiwei’s name spread across three counties and six towns.

But just as she was preparing to open a second clinic, her ex-husband, Lu Chenzhou, returned gravely wounded and knelt outside Jimin Hall.

The truth behind the theft accusation and the framing came to light. The entire Lu family came to beg her to remarry, famous doctors in the county joined forces to seize her prescriptions, and a summons from the imperial court quietly arrived.

Ye Zhiwei looked coldly at the people who had once trampled her now prostrate at her feet. She had never wanted to remarry. She wanted to make sure no poor person in the world ever had to go without medical care.

But what was the story behind that cold-faced scholar who protected her at every turn?
