Five Village Women Stir Up Trouble

There are five women in Qiaoshan Village who spend their days hanging out together and stirring up trouble until the whole village is in an uproar.

Wang Liulan, an outsider, is constantly on guard, always afraid the locals will bully her. She draws Xia Qiushui into an alliance of outsiders, and the two stick together and stand up for each other whenever trouble arises;

Cui Baoxian, a native of the village, considers her bloodline superior and ostracizes outsiders at every turn;

Feng Pingxiang is insatiably greedy, siding with whoever benefits her and constantly plotting against her neighbors and relatives;

Liu Jiaolan loves nothing more than gossiping and sowing discord. She would be delighted if the village grew more chaotic.

The five women seem to get along, but each has her own agenda. They distrust one another and secretly set traps for each other.

They gather to gossip, compare themselves to others and grow jealous, grab public resources, exploit their own sisters-in-law, and deliberately stir up conflict between neighbors and relatives.

Over the smallest, most trivial matters, they form factions and fight among themselves, making village life a complete mess.
