There's Always a Match for Everything, and I Always Put the Defiant in Their Place

The Middle Eastern desert, blanketed in smoke and gunfire.

A fight to the death, blood mingling, pain transferred.

In a split second of desperation, pain is transferred.

Han Xi returns to the country to investigate the bloody vendetta that destroyed her family twenty years ago.

She deliberately gets close to the male lead's family, and they meet again.

Their first encounter is a battle of wits.

Neither recognizes the other's identity, yet they are deeply drawn to each other's bone-deep, solitary aura and the similar obsession and madness within them.

From false courtesy and mutual probing to becoming deeply entangled in a love knotted with hatred.

The truth is revealed piece by piece, each revelation crueler than the last:

Her stepfather, who had married into the family, was a man of ruthless ambition. He conspired with Murong Yunchen's second uncle to drive Han Xi's maternal grandfather's family business into the ground.

A car crash, long in the making, killed her mother and twin brother.

Her grandfather's company went bankrupt. The double blow of losing his only daughter and his grandchildren drove him to jump from a building, while her grandmother died suddenly from grief. The once-prosperous Han family collapsed overnight.

But the mastermind, her stepfather, escaped by assuming a new identity. He came to own a luxurious mansion and fame, and proudly married into the Murong family, living happily with his new family.

With a blood feud before her, love is nothing but an illusion.

Han Xi puts justice before family and personally sends her biological father and Murong Yunchen's second uncle to their deaths.

The moment the vendetta is settled is the moment they part ways.

When Han Xi is framed and left on the brink of death, he risks everything to save her.

As the families vie for power, Huo Junyi lays a vicious trap that pushes Murong Yunchen into a dead end. Han Xi defies the odds and walks into danger alone to save him.

Love and hatred entwine, bound together by blood.

In the end, the two cast off their dark identities and the lovers find their way to a happy ending.
